Fund Raising

Another Generous Donation

October  2017

Out of the blue, Nan Cowling rolled up to the shed with a $3000 cheque to help us along. Nan has been a great supporter for many years now, and will have the honour of having one of the new all-purpose rooms named after her.

Thank you Nan from all of us.

8th August 2017

Committee members of the shed attended the Coffs Harbour City Council Capital InfrastructureGrants Program 2017-2018 Presentation today. The Men's Shed is one of many Community Groups to get help from the Council to help with building projects like our mezzanine floor.

This Video shows the presentation of Grants to various Community Groups.

The Coffs Harbour Men's Shed is very grateful for all the help we receive from the Coffs Council, both in funding and planning.

The Ron Braun Fundraising Barbeque

 30th June  2017

Member Ron Braun put together a barbeque to raise funs for the Shed.

A couple dozen members were served a delicious hamburger for the 1982 price of $2 each.
The food was organised and supplied by Member Ron Braun to help raise some funds for the shed, and to engender some conversation between members, as we have all worked hard to move into the new shed.

The location off Howard Street provides a great quiet 'out of the way' spot to socialise and spend a Friday lunch with mates.

Thanks Ron...

Generous Donation - June 2017

Paul and Helen Parramore of Sawtell willingly contributed the purchase price of $330 towards a new electronic stove top and vent which was recently installed into our new kitchen.

Paul and Helen are private contributors and are not associated with any company or charity. They have donated this money out of the goodness of their hearts and are truly community minded people.

Thank you very much...

Bunning’s Team Tahini
Donating AEG, Hart and Empire Brand tools

Robert met Tim at a bunning’s demonstration a while ago and asked him if AEG brand would be up for a donation to the Coffs Men’s Shed. A while later Tim came in to the shed to inquire about joining, as he is interested in working with wood, and remembering him from our meetings at Bunning’s I got chatting to him again about a donation, which he went back to his area managers and marketing team, who after some persuasion agreed to a one off donation equivalent to $1000 net cost.

Tim then approached Bunning’s to match the donation from AEG, Tahini (Community Event Co-Ordinator and the manager) agreed to donate $1000 of tools of our choice from the AEG brands of Hart and Empire and AEG.These tools were selected by Robert. David and Rob graciously accepted this donation and thanked the guys profusely for their generosity.

$3,500 Donation of Floor Tiles

26 June 2017

Floor tiles for the Office and Wet Areas
Laid by Wayne, assisted by Tony & Doug
Tiles Donated by Carpet Court (Simon McCreadie)
Value of tiles and Labour approx. $3500

Tony Goninan asked his mate Wayne to come lay some vinyl we had at the shed stored for god know how many years. Wrinkled and wavy, Wayne advised not to lay it, it would only be a trip hazard, he would go talk to his mates at CARPET COURT, namely Simon McCreadie, who generously donated enough wood vinyl tiles to cover the office and toilet area. Which looks terrific down and gets us another step closer to being in the new shed.

Donation

18th Oct 2017
I write to advise you that the Coffs Harbour Community Men’s Shed has been successful in their application for funding under the National Shed Development Program.

The grant of $2,500 will allow the Shed to buy a suite of specialised metalworking equipment including a mill drill, stand, clamp kit, collet set, 10 piece end mill set, freight, MIG package, welding trolley, helmet, torch holder, and a dust collector. This equipment will enable the Shed to expand their activities and produce better quality projects for the local community.

I know that the Shed, which has nearly 100 members, is well regarded in the Coffs Harbour community, including through its community partnerships with Waratah Respite Services, Accommodation Network, Coffs Support Services, Northcott Disabilities Services and Centrelink.

This grant is a testament to you and your hardworking team of volunteers who do a great job in providing a place where men can connect with each other.

Please pass on my congratulations to all those involved on this excellent outcome.

Kind regards

Giving Back...

The Coffs Harbour Council Image Library got a boost this month with help from the Men's Shed.

Shedder Ray Meyer helped developed a small software program to automatically produce named images for the OPAC library, and optimised their software to 'speed up' file manipulation over the networks.
